Off to the Academy (For most Tuftusks, it is an honor to be accepted into Evito’s Mage Academy, for others it could be a duty ordained by their guardians or others that have seen their potential in magic. Either way, you’ve received that letter accepting you into its ranks and must pack up everything important enough to you to accompany you to the academy.)
Potions and tomes( While the Academy is a place of prestige, it certainly isn’t a place that’s light on the expense. Dorms cost caps, school materials do and so do the books, which are especially expensive. So, perhaps it’s time to work a side job or find other means to achieve those hard to get items, hm?)
Hall monitor ( For whatever reason, you are caught dead in the halls by the old Tuftusk that roams them, ensuring no one acts out of line. Perhaps you had reason to be there, or even if you were skipping out, it now doesn’t really matter, as you’re forced to stay after hours to endure janitorial duties. Mayhaps you feel this is an injustice, perhaps an overreaction, either way, you can stay, do your due diligence or... find some way to worm your way out, the choice is yours.)
Trophy case defaced! (A case of awards along with certificates and depictions of previous students line the entryway of the Academy, yet some crazy Tuftusk decided they wanted to be the wise guy that tracked their muddy paw prints all over every single piece along with stealing a few choice placards. Now you could go find the culprit yourself, though cleaning up the mess might show good initiative, ‘cause why not let the authorities handle things, right? Either way, it’s bound to be a long day at the Academy with Rivean, the Academy leader, in quite the stew.)
- TL;DR (While learning a new helping spell, yoooou may or may not have zoned out on the last few paragraphs pertaining to multitasking spells. Now all the spoons and forks and brooms and hats and everything are acting up, flying around the room and chasing students. So uh, time to fix it, because the teacher sure is struggling to get that massive hat glomped to their head free of him.)
Opposites clash (Often it’s difficult for particular mages to overcome their weaknesses, fire being weak against water and dark and light often canceling each other out. It’s up to you to figure out a way to circumvent this, be creative and do your best as out there, rogue mages are unlikely to be kind should they win over you in a fight!)
Sneaking magic (There is magic that allows your paw falls to be light, nearly unheard by fellow Tuftusks, just think of the mischief you can get into--or perhaps good? Either way, it’s time to put this new ability to good use)
Pesky artifacts (Cloaks, daggers, wardrobes? Oh my! There’s so many enchanted artifacts in the Academy, some of which have minds seemingly of their own, one in particular is a sword that now possesses the soul of a now deceased Tuftusk. One that has a temper problem from time to time and easily gets insulted, which can lead to unsavory results. You run across said sword in such a rut, threatening others. It’s up to you to either calm it or take charge in some way! Just be careful!)
Secret passage (Built on what was once an old labyrinth, the Mage academy somehow links to the underground, a place where thieves thrive, living by their own sets of guidelines and rules, which is to say, there are none. Finding yourself down here one day, you discover yourself trapped and needing to find a way out. Do you dare navigate the labyrinth? Or do you try to find your way back from where you came? )
- For the show! ( A small competition is ran, in order to mages to show off their learned skills in order to impress their teachers as well as the student body. Come up with an impressive routine in order to do just this and perhaps win a trophy for the trouble?)
Very superstitious (Ever since the beginning of your time at the Academy, you’ve heard stories about a cursed artifact within the academy, an item that somehow randomly chooses various students within its walls and gives them an influx of bad luck and you’ve been having a pretty bad week yourself. Though anything like that is surely locked away, told to be in the head mage’s quarters. Perhaps, well, maybe you’d benefit from it disappearing and be doing fellow mages in the future, a favor... )
Magical Backfire (Oh no, one of the early year students at the academy has had quite the time trying to control their fire magic and gone and set part of the classroom on fire! Do something quickly!)
Rivalry (Like any organization, there’s going to be the best and second best, and someone doesn’t like you gaining on their heels so to speak. Once confronted with your rival, you must make a choice in what to do next, whether that’s to put them in their place or ignore the whole thing and move on, continuing your studies to become an even better mage)
Like a Charm (Charms are used on the regular, both for personal defense and to help build traps around certain buildings and the Kingdom’s borders. Today you’re sent out to replace old, faulty ones around the walls with new ones, the only trouble is that faulty ones can be quite unpredictable and spring on the wrong folks…)
- Impostor (Someone has used a glamour in order to sneak into the Academy and steal from the forbidden section of the library and that imposture decided they would impersonate you! Time to clear your good name before the Academy leader decides it’s best to throw you out under false pretense)
Fetch me a book (The master of the Mage Academy has entrusted you to seek a old tomb that speaks of the ancients, in order to add to their wealth of books available to all in the academy. Speculation tells of magics unused for ages and such a find would be useful to all willing to study it. Only the master cannot go themselves, they’ve an Academy to run, after all.)
Blackmail (A so called, fellow mage has been after tombs in the forbidden, gated off section of the academy. So rather than get their own paws dirty, they dig up some dirt on you and threaten to use it to get you expunged from the academy. Whether you take the bait or not, it’s up to you where to go from here.)
Invention ( Magic is ever changing, and in a world that thrives off of its use, new ways and methods to implement it are quite important to do research into. So, after thinking on it for a long time, you stand before the Mage Academy leader, showing your contribution to the world of magic)
Monkey’s paw (A young Tuftusk has come across a wand that makes the will of the user manifest into reality. Trouble is, each time it’s used, it exacts a terrible price. Though for some this is worth having. Perhaps that wand of theirs is best suited in more capable paws?
With power comes great… (A mage, with careful tutelage can become massively powerful, and with that power there tends to be fear depending on one’s actions, especially since some mages in the past have been known to be overwhelmed by their own power or simply went mad. Sometimes you have to prove otherwise, not just to others but to yourself, whether that be for respect or other reasons, the choice is always yours, after all.)
❋ Submission rules
Please title your piece with the corresponding mission title and note if its 1/5 missions or more, submitting it to the appropriate folder. Also make sure you link to your application and post your completed missions on the application itself with a link. This makes it easier for us to give rewards out and verify everything is in order with a bit less gallery diving needed on our part. If you do not do these things, your submission will not be accepted into the group, this is to keep the group running smoothly as possible!
❋ Approaching missions and quests
❋ Follow up prompt
To encourage character development and the feel of your choices making an impact, once you complete a prompt, you may ask for a follow up prompt, just be sure to summarize in the comment what exactly your character’s actions were, this makes it easy just to skim in cases of a written prompt rather than going over the whole entry and clarifies a splash page that may not be entirely clear at a glance. My fellow founder and I will go over your entry and decide what the appropriate response will be, and you can make a prompt that reflects how your character deals with that reaction. We want to help make a story unique to you to create a game experience that’ll differ from everyone else’s! However, please don’t feel obligated to do this if you don’t wish to.
